Quest Overview

Find the Runic Cube keys and inscribe them with the code to open the Shield Wall Door.

Getting Started

Make sure you talk to all NPC's until they stop advancing the quest for you. Once that's done head to the Olthoi Tunnels (56.6S, 34.6E).
Note: If you can not get in you didnt advance fully from the NPC's at the Shield Wall Gate.

Once inside the olthoi tunnels you need to do a few things:

  • Loot 3 keys for each person in fellow from the Gearknight corpses in the dungeon (two for the Store Room and one for the Map Room).
  • Find the Shapers room and talk to the shaper inside to advance.
  • Use the first key to go inside the Store room and find a Iconruniccube.jpg Runic Cube. (You will return later to pick up a Mnemonic Cube.)
  • Use the second key to go inside the Map room and find a Iconstylus.jpg Stylus.
  • Use the Stylus to properly inscribe the runic cube and hand it in.
  • Find a Iconmnemoniccube.jpg Mnemonic Cube and hand it in to become a CubeDetail.jpg Ciphered Mnemonic Cube.

Walkthrough

Step 1

When you walk in and head down, you get to a room with pillars and with doors in the 4 directions. From there a small maze of ways will lead to the 3 rooms you need to advance the quest. Those are in a Fork position (NW, W and NE). Shapers room was straight ahead from the door you arrive in the room. Once you find it you will need to go inside (no key required) and advance talking to the Foreman npc. He will ask you to find a Runic Cube and properly inscribe it.

Step 2

You need to head to the Store room now. Store room is at the North end and the Map room is at the South.
Entrance to the store room requires each player to have a key. The keys for the store room can be found off the various Gearknight Legionary corpses laying around the Olthoi Tunnels.
Once in the Store room, each person needs to take a Runic Cube off the ground to be inscribed.

Step 3

Now you need to head to the Map room. Entrance to the map room requires each player to have a key as well. They are also found on the Gearknight corpses. Once in the map room you will need to inscribe your Runic cube.
To do this each person has to pick up a Stylus from either table from the sides of the room.
Then use the Stylus to do the correct inscription, with this code:

  • Block, block, block, dot, dot, dot, block, dot

To imprint the code you need to learn inscription and this is done like this:

  • Use the stylus on the Block well. Your stylus becomes a Block rune stylus in your inventory. Use the block stylus on the Runic cube. The block stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (repeat) Use the stylus on the Block well. Your stylus becomes a Block stylus in your inventory. Use the block stylus on the Runic cube. The block stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (3rd time) Use the stylus on the Block well. Your stylus becomes a Block stylus in your inventory. Use the block stylus on the Runic cube. The block stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • Now use the Stylus on the Dot well. Your stylus becomes a Dot stylus in your inventory. Use the dot stylus on the runic cube. The dot stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (repeat)Use the Stylus on the Dot well. Your stylus becomes a Dot stylus in your inventory. Use the dot stylus on the runic cube. The dot stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (3rd time) Use the Stylus on the Dot well. Your stylus becomes a Dot stylus in your inventory. Use the dot stylus on the runic cube. The dot stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (Back to Block) Use the stylus on the Block well. Your stylus becomes a Block stylus in your inventory. Use the block stylus on the Runic cube. The block stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.
  • (And lastly) Use the Stylus on the Dot well. Your stylus becomes a Dot stylus in your inventory. Use the dot stylus on the runic cube. The dot stylus now reverts back to a regular stylus.

Note:You will not hear any "quest advances" during this process.

To verify you did the painting correctly double click the cube in your pack. It should look like :.. (check image bellow)

With the correct cube, head to the Shapers room again and hand in your Runic Cube.

Step 4

You will get a quest advance saying that "he needs a plain cube first so he can make a ciphered mnemonic cube".
The Iconmnemoniccube.jpg Mnemonic Cube is located in the Storeroom (same as runic) in the back left part.
Each person needs their own Mnemonic cube. Take it back to the Shapers room and turn into the npc. He will hand you back the Ciphered Mnemonic Cube that you need to gain access to the shield wall door.
Use the Ciphered Mnemonic Cube on the door like a key.
Congratulations! You now have permanent access to use the shield wall doors and get across without having to go through the shield dungeon like you did in Piercing the Shield Wall.
