Walkthrough

This quest is part of the Atlan's Foundry quest series, so this guide will assume you are completing the entire series and send you to a few locations early to minimize backtracking. This guide actually consists of several subquests: Heart of Stone, Factory, Refinery, Smith's Chambers, and Atlan Weapons. It's intended for a group, as there are up to level 65 group undead that must be fought.

By now, you should have the Damaged Golem Heart and Mysterious Device in your inventory already. If not, see the Aerfalle's Generals quest guide to get them. Also, be sure to keep at least 12 pack spaces open for various quest items you'll need to pick up.

Heart of Stone subquest
- Pyreal Mines: Head to the Pyreal Mines at 29.2S 58.8E in the Knorr Foundry area. This dungeon is full of solo and group undead, as well as chunks of Blue Pyreal Ore on the ground. Each person must obtain 9 pieces of ore. You can avoid the group undead in the big rooms and just fight the smaller ones in the hallways here. The ore does spawn in the hallways, but it may take a bit of time to collect them all if you aren't going to the group undead areas. Use your Damaged Golem Heart on one of these chunks of ore, and you will turn it into a Golem Heart.
- Atlan's Foundry, Factory: Enter Atlan's Foundry at 33.2S 62.2E. You will see a Factory door just inside. Kill the Foundry Protector golem inside and then enter the Control Room. It's only a solo monster, but each person must individually get the kill to advance. You should receive the "Factory" subquest at this time.
- Atlan's Foundry, Mana Battery: There are four golems here guarding a gear. Kill them and head to the right where you'll find a Mana Battery. Give your Golem Heart to the battery to obtain a Charged Golem Heart. Then run across the gear room to the other side where you'll find a Black Slab. Hand the heart to the slab, and obtain a Charged Golem Heart. This heart will spawn a repaired golem only three times, so be sure not to waste it. Also, avoid clicking the slab or giving anything else to the mana battery. Doing so may deal damage to you or spawn exploding Unstable Magma Golems.
- Atlan's Foundry, Control Room: Take your Charged Golem Heart back to the gear room where the four golems spawned. Kill the golems and use the charged heart to spawn a pet Repaired Golem. The golem will automatically run to the center and start attacking the gear. Be sure to kill any other golems that spawn and can distract your pet from its job. Eventually, the golem will finish its work and the door to the Foreman's Office will open. This will complete the "Heart of Stone" subquest and give you an experience reward. (1% XP, 41,055,919 @ 59)

Factory subquest
- Atlan's Foundry, Factory: This subquest should have started when you killed the Foundry Protector golem inside the Factory.
- Atlan's Foundry, Foreman's Office: Defeat the Foreman here (level 60 group, undead Empyrean) to complete this subquest and access the Vent Shaft area. (Reward: 2% XP, capped at 29,838,016 @ 55)

Refinery subquest
- Atlan's Foundry, Vent Shaft: Prepare for battle and enter the Vent Shaft. A Vent Shaft Guard golem (55 group) will attack and portal itself around the room at random. Kill it and loot a Glowing Gem. This should start the "Refinery" subquest. Now, use the gem and it will portal you to one of a few random locations in the room. You want the one on a higher platform near the Refining Maintenance door, so keep using the gem until you're there, and enter.
- Atlan's Foundry, Refinery: Speak to the Maintenance Golem here to get a quest to kill 10 Magma Golems in the Sluice.
- Atlan's Foundry, Sluice: The golems spawn here fairly quickly, so it shouldn't take long to get all 10 kills. Once you do, backtrack to the Refinery room with the Maintenance Golem.
- Atlan's Foundry, Refinery: Speak to the golem again to access the Refinery Chief's Workshop. The chief is a level 65 group undead Empyrean. Enter, kill the chief, and loot the Refinery Chief's Medallion. Give this medallion to the Refinery Golem (*not* the Maintenance Golem, who will just keep it). The Refinery Golem will now ask for the Blue Pyreal Ore you've been carrying around. Hand it all eight, and you will end up with 8 Blue Pyreal Motes. This will start a "Pyreal Mines" subquest and give you a quest recipe to create a Pyreal Bar. You don't need to create it now, but you will eventually need to if you want your Atlan weapon. - Atlan's Foundry, Smith's Chambers: Use the Mysterious Device you've been holding on the Smith's Chambers door to enter and complete the "Refinery" subquest. (5% XP, capped at 238,124,340 @ 60)

Smith's Chambers subquest
This subquest will begin automatically when you enter the Smith's Chambers in the Refinery. This area has a mix of solo and group undead. These undead all have a chance to drop A Blank Atlan Emblem. Each person creating an Atlan weapon will need one.

Next, use the emblem on a weapon to imprint that type of weapon on it. For example, use it on a sword to create an Atlan Sword Emblem. The weapon you use the emblem on is not consumed by this process.

At the end of this area, you'll encounter The Smith, a level 65 group undead Empyrean with some strong magic attacks. This is the final battle of the quest series. Kill The Smith to complete this subquest. His body will have 3 Attuned Tesserae and a book called Atlan's Weapon Recipes. Killing him also lets you enter the Forge portal near the entrance to Atlan's Foundry. (3% XP, capped at 288,613,665 @ 65)

Atlan Weapons subquest
This subquest begins when you read the recipe book dropped by The Smith. You will get quest recipes that work just like normal craft recipes, except you need to be at the foundry forge to craft. No crafting skill is required, but it does take quite a few materials, including the Pyreal Bar you made earlier. Also, beware standing too long at this forge, as undead can spawn on you.

You can use the arrows in the recipe to set the item level you'd like. This is item level, not player level. It determines the damage and arcane lore of the weapon you'll receive, so be sure to check what item level corresponds to the arcane lore you want a weapon for.

Upon crafting your first Atlan weapon, you'll also receive quest recipes for a harmonic and focus imbue to the weapon. The exact effect of the Focus imbue is still unknown. The harmonic imbues consume a lodestone, and are temporary. They add 20% damage versus a certain type of monster (martial, arcane, decay, nature) but never grow like normal harmonics.

Repeating the Quest
The Refinery has a repeat timer of 6 days and Smith's Chambers/Atlan Weapons have repeat timers of 13 days. The Heart of Stone subquest also has a repeat timer of 6 days however, since you have to be on the Factory subquest, which isn't repeatable, to do it it seems that the Heart of Stone is also unrepeatable. Collecting 8 Blue Pyreal Ore, creating a bar, and actually creating an Atlan weapon isn't required if you just want to repeat this quest for the experience reward.
